IMPORTANCE HAS A GREAT SIGNIFICANCE IN ISLAM

islam

Namaz is the first pillar of Islam that the Prophet (PBUH) mentioned after mentioning the Testimony of Faith (Imaan), by which one becomes a Muslim.  Namaz was made obligatory upon all the prophets and for all peoples.

Verse 20:13-14 of Holy Quran,

And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed [to you]. Indeed, I am ALLAH. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.

In the same way, the prayers were made obligatory upon the Prophet Muhammad, furthermore, when ALLAH Almighty praises the believers, such as in the start of the chapter entitled ‘al-Muminoon’ (the Believers), one of the primary descriptions ALLAH Almighty states is their adherence to the prayers.

The significance of the namaz lies in the fact that no matter what actions an individual performs in his life, the most significant aspect is one’s relationship to ALLAH Almighty, that is, person’s faith (imaan),

God-consciousness, sincerity and Ibadah of ALLAH Almighty. Thus, if the prayers are sound and appropriate, the rest of the deeds will be sound and proper; and if the namaz are not sound and proper, then the rest of the deeds and actions will not be sound and proper.

In actuality, the namaz is performed properly with true remembrance of ALLAH Almighty and turning to Him for pardon it will have an eternal effect on the person.  After he finishes the namaz, his heart will be filled with the remembrance of ALLAH Almighty.  He will be frightened as well as hopeful of ALLAH Almighty. ALLAH Almighty has mentioned this aspect of the namaz when He has said in verse 29:45 of Holy Quran,

Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of ALLAH is greater. And ALLAH knows that which you do.

Verse 70:19-23 of Holy Quran,

Indeed, mankind was created anxious: When evil touches him, impatient, And when good touches him, withholding [of it], Except the observers of prayer – Those who are constant in their prayer

As for the Hereafter, ALLAH Almighty’s forgiveness and pleasure is closely linked to the prayers. The prayers are a kind of purification for a human being. He turns and meets with his Lord five times every day. This repeated standing in front of ALLAH Almighty should keep the person from doing sinful acts during the whole day.  Moreover, it must also be a time of regret and repentance, such that he earnestly asks ALLAH Almighty for forgiveness for all those sins that he committed.  In adding up, the namaz in itself is a superior deed that wipes away many of the evil deeds that he performed.

BIBI HAJRA AND STATUS OF WOMEN IN ISLAM

islam

The status of Women in Islam can not be doubtful as Islam has given privileges and rights to women which they never had in any other religions. But still nowadays the most frequent attack on Islamic values and morals is to question the status of women in Islam. The status of women in Islam is unique and matchless does not have any resemblance with previous religions or systems. Let us talk about the status of women in Islam with view to the history of Safa and Marwa. Safa and Marwa are two hills near to Holy Kaaba in city Makkah. Muslims who perform the Hajj and Umrah should run between the hills of Safa and Marwa. This is in the memory of a mother’s sacrifice for her son.

The great woman was Bibi Hajra (May ALLAH Almighty be pleased with her). She was the wife of Hazrat Ibraheem (A.S). Bibi Hajra was the Mother of Hazrat Ismaeel (A.S). Bibi Hajra’s sacrifice took place when She was left alone with her baby Hazrat Ismaeel (AS) in the valley of city Makkah all for the sake of ALLAH Almighty.

Verse 14:37 of Holy Quran;

Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.

When Bibi Hajra became thirsty and Her Hazrat Ismaeel (AS) child also became thirsty. She started looking at her baby tossing in agony. She left him, for she could not bear looking at him, and found that the mountain of Safa was the nearest mountain. She stood on it and started looking at the valley enthusiastically so that she might see somebody, but She could not see anyone. Then she descended from Safa and when she reached the valley, she ran in the valley like a person in trouble and distress, till she crossed the valley and reached Marwa where she stood and started looking and expecting to see some water or someone help, but she could not see anybody. She repeated that act (running between Safa and Marwa) seven times. This act of running between the hills of Safa and Marwa by Bibi Hajra was so much loved by ALLAH Almighty that ALLAH has made running between Safa and Marwa obligatory for every man and Woman who performs Umrah and Hajj.

Verse 2:158 of Holy Quran;

Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of ALLAH. So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs ‘umrah – there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good – then indeed, ALLAH is appreciative and Knowing.

Today we drink from Zamzam water and it is ever flowing water, when you go for Umrah and Hajj. What a beautiful example of Status of women in Islam!!

LAILAT-UL-QADR, NIGHT BETTER THAN THOUSAND MONTHS

Shab E Qadar

Lailat-ul-Qadr is described as the night of power, the night of pardon, which is to agree the sins on which a single act done is better than the deeds done in one thousand month such as reciting the Holy Quran about which the Holy book says, verse 97:3 of HolyQuran:

The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to do ibadah (worship) on this night with more loyalty than rest of the months as ALLAH’S Messenger used to exert himself in dedication during the last 10 nights to a greater extent than any other time.

The question looms that what a Muslim must do particularly on this night therefore this article is composed to let the Muslims know about what are the rituals every Muslim must opt and do to search for the mercy and to utilize this night in a appropriate manner.

  1. Observe AItekaf:

We take break from nearly everything in our life to enjoy the real essence of life apart from frantic routine. This Ramadan takes a break for ALLAH Almighty by observing Aitekaf to do maximum dua (supplication) in order to focus on veneration and do ibadah. If this is not feasible then at least take a two days or days off to focus on your ibadah and this will make it easier to stay awake, do Tahajjud namaz, nawafils and recitation of Holy Quran with ease.

  1. Quran Recitation:

This is the night, which is said to be the night when Holy Quran was sent from Loh-eMehfooz on Earth therefore the most suggested deed is to recite Holy Quran as much as you can by understanding the lesson and message written within.

Try to complete the whole Holy Quran if you can so that the return you get in reward is a maximum one.

      3.  Reflect the Meanings of Holy Quran:

Holy Quran is a complete guidance for al and tells each and everything that a person wants to know about. Open the Holy Quran and see what is not there from a small matter to a major one, it imparts direction and also asks us to follow its footsteps because on the occasion of Last Hajj (Jummat ul Widah) Prophet (PBUH) clearly said that Sunnah and this book Holy Quran is the source of forgiveness for you in this world and also hereafter.

      4. Make Up for Your gunah (sins):

All the previous sins will be wiped out for the one who will ask pardon and the one who will evaluate his imaan (faith) in

Lailat-ul-Qadar.

      5. Offer Taraweeh:

Taraweeh is one of the aspects of Holy Ramadan to honour this Holy month of Ramadan. It is a voluntary namaz, it is one of the suggested deeds of Holy Ramadan.

During the Tawaaf (circumambulation) it is essential for a man to do two things

Tawaaf

  1. Al-ldhtebaa’ from the beginning of Tawaaf (circumambulation) tills the end. Al-ldhtebaa’ means placing the middle of a person’s Rida under his right arm and ends of it over his left shoulder.

When he is done with performing Tawaaf (circumambulation), he may return his Rida to its original position because the time for Idhtebaa’ is just during Tawaaf (circumambulation).

  1. Al-Raml during the initial three circuits. Al-Raml means speeding up person’s speed or pace with small steps. A pilgrim must walk at a normal speed during his last 4 circuits.

When he completes seven rounds or circuits of Tawaaf (circumambulation), he approaches Maqam-e-Ibrahim (station of ibrahim) and recites.

Verse 2:125 of Holy Quran

And [mention] when We made the House a place of return for the people and [a place of] security. And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer. And We charged Abraham and Ishmael, [saying], “Purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying [there] for worship and those who bow and prostrate [in prayer].

Pilgrims prays two short Rakats nafil namaz, as near as conveniently possible, behind the Maqam-e-Ibrahim. When pilgrim completes the two Rakats namaz he or she must return to the Hajr-e-Aswad (Black Stone) kiss it or touch it, if convenient. Then pilgrim performs Saaee

Pilgrim ascends As-Safaa until he or she is able to see the Holy Kaabah. Facing the Holy Kaabah and raising his hands, pilgrim praises ALLAH Almighty and makes any supplications (dua).

He descends As-Safaa and heads for mountain Al-Marwah at a normal speed until he reaches to the green marker. He should then run speedy until the next green marker. He continues toward Marwah at a normal speed. When he reaches it, he ascends it, faces the direction or Qibla, raises hands and repeats what said on Safaa.

Verse 2:158 of Holy Quran

Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of ALLAH. So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs ‘umrah – there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good – then indeed, ALLAH is appreciative and Knowing

Pilgrim continues this process until he or she completes seven laps.

During Saaee pilgrim may recite what he or she wills of supplications (dua), recitation of Holy Quran, and mentioning ALLAH Almighty. In completion of Saaee men completely shaves his head hairs, whereas women just clips her head hair the length of a finger tip. With that, Umrah is completed and now pilgrim is free from to the restrictions of Ihraam and to dress in other clothing, applies perfume etc.
